What enzymes might help with vascular health?
Nattokinase, a potent fibrinolytic enzyme, aids the body in reducing existing arterial plaque and helps keep excessive fibrin in check.
A 1990 study showed nattokinase to be effective in patients with, or at risk for, embolisms. In addition, a 2003 article indicates that continued research is being done to develop nattokinase as an oral supplement for the prevention of deep vein thrombosis.
A more recent study from Taiwan concludes that nattokinase is effective in reducing coagulation, or blood clotting.
Coenzyme Q10 also offers protection for the heart, and lecithin helps emulsify fats.
