Neuromuscular Therapy
Neuromuscular Therapy, NMT, involves the application of static pressure on the soft tissues of the body – muscles, tendons and connective tissues – with the objective of relieving pain. The goal is to promote balance in the central nervous system, which has an effect on the muscular and skeletal systems. The therapy can be used for these pain types:
- Ischemia – Lack of blood supply to soft tissues
- Trigger points – Irritated muscle points that spread pain to other areas
- Nerve compression or entrapment – Pressure on a nerve from soft tissue, bone or cartilage
- Postural distortion – Muscular system imbalance
- Biomechanical dysfunction – Musculoskeletal system imbalance
